It seems that there's little correspondence from state to state, or province
to province, about what acupuncturist's abbreviations mean, but here's a short
list of what we know so far. To add to the confusion, sometimes acupuncturists
list who accredited them, also in an abbreviated form. The names of
licenses are different somewhat in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., and sometimes
practitioners mention where they went to school (e.g., U.K.) in the same abbreviation. Sometimes acupuncturists practice in addition to their
training in another field. So you'll also see M.D., Ph.D., D.C., D.D.S.,
L.M.T., and the occasional J.D. Just keeps you guessing! :-) Hope
